Located outside the small town of Leesport, PA is this railroad that has been here for so long. Once used to haul Coal & other goods via steam train in the past, it is no longer used at all. The tracks just sit there rusting away. The tracks extend all the way into Leesport where they go buy a old Knitting Mill that is falling apart. Along this stretch of railroad there was a bad train derailment, but I’m not sure just where it was.
I am 75 yrs. young and now retired. I worked in the Machinist Trade for 24 yrs. Served in the US Navy with a Tour of Duty in Vietnam. Being retired I do enjoy Photography with my Nikon and Pentax Camera's, snooping around in Historic and Abandoned places, using my Scroll Saw, Reading, Travel, riding a bicycle on the many Trails that are around my area, and what-ever else will interest me at the time. Come with me and see where I go, where I have been, and my Life surviving Retirement.

Yes. Am a member of Rails to Trails. Over here there are many trails that have been converted over from a railroad bed to a trail. I ride them often. Nice & flat. Some have small hills, but not many. The Schuylkill River Trail is another one that runs from way up North down to Philadelphia, PA. It’s a long trail.
Funny that you brought that to attention. Not but a mile from where I took this pic, there is a bike trail head. The trail does not follow this far up, but it does further down where the Trail Head is. It follows below the old tracks & thru the town of Leesport. The Trail is nice, but a bit hilly. Some of it needs repair from all the rain we’ve had. Ride Safe.
Very pretty!!!
Perfect candidate to turn into a bike path! Have you heard of the Rails to Trails Conservancy?
