SHOOTING WITH A CRYSTAL BALL

_IGP3588-Edit

I took my camera gear “out there” today, because the weather was just great.  I had my 3″ Crystal Lens Ball with me so decided to get some practice in using it with the camera.

I had to set up my Tripod, and attach my Pentax K10d with a Rokinon 14mm 2.5 Lens.  I also needed my Remote Shutter Trigger.  Since the 14mm Rokinon does not have a zoom feature to it, I had to move the Crystal Ball at different positions, find the best position, and focus on that.  Holding a Crystal Ball that is 3″ in Diameter, focus the camera, and then press the remote shutter takes a bit of practice to do.  Before this shot was taken, I did it 5 times before this to get it right.

Now, when you shoot this, the Image in the Crystal Ball is not like you see here.  It’s inverted.  It’s up-side down, because of lens refraction.  Then I have to put the Image into Photoshop CC and just rotate the part I want up-right.  I was not good at this, so again, I had to keep on trying until I got this correct.  This was the result.

This one was taken before I learned how to rotate just the Crystal Ball and not the whole Image.
